Strengthening And Redesigning European Flood Risk Practices: Towards Appropriate and Resilient Flood Risk Governance Arrangements (STAR-FLOOD) is a programme funded by the European Union to analyse, explain, evaluate, and design policies to better deal with flood risks from rivers in urban agglomerations across Europe. While building, reinforcing, and maintaining flood defence works is an essential component of immediate flood prevention, this project seeks to better understand sustained flood prevention, examining multiple strategies simultaneously and linking them together.

Waterfronts NL participant Grontmij is one of the major partners in the project, and is responsible for communication and the participatory process involving stakeholders. This includes creating and disseminating policy summaries of the main results of the project, developing an online practice manual, maintaining website and social media discussions, and organising the final conference.
